How to Sell More Than Your eBay Competitors

Many people do not realize that you can gather a lot of information about your eBay competitors by just looking around on eBay. The website has tools for both buyers and sellers, and these are excellent aids to find out what items are being searched for most often, which ones are selling best, and what prices the sellers are getting. Taking the time to do this research is not a step many sellers do, but if you make the effort you can be better prepared than your eBay competitors and perhaps on the way to increasing your sales and income.

By analyzing a variety of listing styles, descriptions, and photos, you can determine what effect these factors had on the result of the transaction. You can then use the smartest ideas from those listings to grow your sales and add to your profits.

Your eBay competitors will often have been using the website for several years. But, instead of letting that fact intimidate you, take advantage of their knowledge and use it to help your business. One of the easiest and most effective ways to begin is by researching the keywords for an item you plan to sell. Review the results, noting who the sellers are, what the current prices are, and any other information, such as notes about the pictures, that stood out.

If you have a relationship with a wholesaler, enter some text in the search box that describes something about a product you wish to sell. Again, using the results listed, see if you could make a reasonable profit, because, if not, you might be better off selling another product.

You will not be able to use eBay to discover whether or not a seller’s items are posted by wholesale. That situation occurs when a seller doesn’t stock their own merchandise and has every item they sell drop shipped from a centralized warehouse. The wholesale company charges a fee for handling the shipping, but the seller would also have paid money to get the product if it were shipped to their location. Most successful eBay businesses make considerable amounts of money by using the posted by wholesale method. They can focus on improving the actual sales process and growing their profits by letting other people handle the task of shipping.

It is important to keep track of the keywords your eBay competitors use in their listings. For example, their title may include a word you’d never think to use, and that mistake could result in your item not being found and your competitor getting the sale. Keywords form the basis of the customer search process on eBay, so you should be very careful in selecting them, and if someone else selling the same item is using a better strategy, copy it and apply it to all your future listings!

Duplicating the greatest ideas from your eBay competitors and using the posted by wholesale technique is sure to make you a winner in the world of online auctions.

  • What Our Customers Say
"I received my order and was very pleased. It was a fast delivery and the merchandise was good quality and the order was accurate. I have been ordering through several companies lately for fund raising items and by far this has been the best customer service I have received from any of the businesses. You've been great with assisting me and answering any questions promptly. I will definitely use this company again and recommend it to others. Thank you so much!"

"I received our package last week and I'm pleasantly surprised with the order. I want to personally thank you for supporting our military troops overseas with APO shipping. Many companies take us for granted and don't realize that we don't have any other options except to order online! Not only was this service appreciated, but it was surprisingly fast shipping for an APO. Obviously our order was taken care of in a timely manner and processed accordingly. My order was for a military pageant that we put on every year and I will no doubt use your company every year provided you have the goods to support our production needs. Once again, thank you for excellent customer service and fast shipping!
